This Jamaican School with 30 Sets of Twins Offers Two-for-One Tuition Bills

Jamaica’s Old Harbour High School is well-known for its high enrollment of twin students. The “School of Twins” has 30 sets of twins and one set of triplets, according to the Associates Times.

The fee payment package for parents whose enrolled children are twins is also unique, with the school’s principal Linto Weir saying that it is designed to cover the expense of only one of the two.

“Let us say, for example, school fees, we ask them just to pay for one of them, Examination fee, we try to fees, we try to meet them, and they pay for one,” Weir went on to say. Weir clarified that parents can cover the expense of two of their triplets.

The principal stated that he had never seen so many twin students in his nearly 30-year career.

“So, while we’ve seen a lot of twins throughout the years, this is the first time we’ve seen so many. When I used to work at Teishos Golan, there were a lot of twins,” he explained. “And if you look at Teishos Golan, it’s only 12 miles from Old Harbour School.” So I’m not sure what it was about this setting that allowed us to have so many twins.

Weir stated that despite obstacles in catering to these pupils, the school has found a solution through policy adjustments.

The principal discussed academic performance, noting, “Normally, you would find one challenge and one who is very academically good.”.

“But that set, it was both of them,” he explained, alluding to a pair of twin boys who perplexed a teacher. “But we served them and we had to have a serious partnership with the parents to the point where the parents had to come in on a weekly basis to sit in the classroom with those boys.”
