Snoop Dogg, an American rapper, will be one of the torchbearers carrying the Olympic flame in the final stretch before the opening ceremony of the Paris Games on Friday.
The Paris 2024 Olympics will take place in France. The ceremonial opening ceremony is scheduled for July 26, with the event running until August 11.
Snoop Dogg, 52, confirmed his nomination as a torchbearer via Instagram.
The US pop culture legend will carry the Olympic flame through the suburb of Saint-Denis, north of Paris, which houses the Stade de France Olympic Stadium and Olympic Village.
Dogg will partner with NBCUniversal to cover the Olympics. He will deliver “regular reports” as well as “his unique take on what’s happening in Paris.”
Snoop Dogg hailed the Olympics as “a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness” when he was selected as a correspondent.
“We are going to have some amazing competitions and, of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix. It is going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned,” he said.
