Republicans Launch Biden Impeachment Report

Congressional Republicans filed a formal impeachment case against US President Joe Biden on Monday, using the first day of the Democratic National Convention to begin a political assault that is unlikely to gain traction.

Three powerful committees in the Republican-led House of Representatives have accused Biden of corruption related to his son Hunter’s international business dealings.

Jim Jordan, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, stated that the investigation found “conclusively” that Biden had “abused his public office for the private financial benefit of the Biden family and Biden business associates.”

Republicans, on the other hand, have presented no concrete evidence that Biden used his office to benefit his son or was involved in Hunter’s companies.

There was no smoking gun in a dossier based on inferences and innuendo regarding father-son relationships, with many of the allegations relating to Biden’s time out of office after serving as Barack Obama’s vice president.

Biden, who is scheduled to deliver a swan song speech at the Democratic convention and hand over the political torch to his vice president Kamala Harris, has repeatedly denied assisting his son’s business enterprises, including those in Ukraine and China.

Republicans have long used Hunter Biden’s international connections and turbulent personal life as a recovered drug user to attempt to shame the president.

However, lengthy efforts to assemble an impeachment case against Biden — regarded by many as a retaliation for Republican Donald Trump’s two impeachments when he was president — have never resulted in a House vote.

Republicans have a razor-thin majority, and it is uncertain whether Monday’s report will ever result in a formal vote to impeach Biden, as the GOP would need near unanimity to overcome Democratic opposition.

If the House impeached Biden, the Democratic-controlled Senate would undoubtedly acquit the president.
