New York Man Jailed for Life for Killing Pregnant Girlfriend, Discarding Her Body Beside A Highway.

According to Law & Crime, a 33-year-old New York man was sentenced to 25 years to life in jail on Wednesday for fatally strangling his pregnant girlfriend, dragging her lifeless corpse out of a car, and leaving her by a highway before driving away.

Vanessa Pierre, 29 years old, was three months from giving birth when Goey Charles murdered her in October 2020. On November 14, a jury found Charles guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced him to prison, according to authorities.

“We asked for the maximum sentence because of the brutality of the crime and the defendant’s remorseless discarding of the lifeless body of his girlfriend, the woman who was soon to be the mother of his child,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said. “The sentence does not bring Vanessa back, but it achieves justice in her memory.”

According to the statement, on October 23, 2020, Charles drove Pierre’s “white Dodge Challenger to a location near the 216-07 Horace Harding Expressway.” The victim, a nurse practitioner, was reportedly in the front passenger seat.

Charles got out of the car around 3:30 a.m. and “went toward the backseat, where his girlfriend was now sitting.” Authorities say Pierre was later seen wandering around after the light inside the truck illuminated.

At roughly 4:36 a.m., Charles exited the vehicle and “dragged Pierre’s lifeless body out of the car and left her on the sidewalk,” authorities said, adding that the convicted man then entered the vehicle and drove away.

Later, an MTA bus driver discovered Pierre unconscious with a pair of gray sweatpants wrapped around her neck. Authorities say she was pronounced deceased by emergency responders who arrived on the site.

The victim died as a result of suffocation caused by neck compression. According to Law & Crime, Charles was also confirmed as the father of Pierre’s unborn child through DNA testing.
