A Louisiana husband and wife have celebrated another accomplishment just two months after giving birth to their “miracle baby.”
Shunte and Korey Harrison graduated from Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday, crossing the stage together. Shunte Harrison received an Associate of Science in criminal justice, while her husband, Korey Harrison, received a Bachelor of Science in business administration.
Coming thus far was not easy, as the pair had to face not only infertility issues, but also natural calamities, illness, and family deaths, according to KLFY.
Shunte and Korey Harrison went through IVF therapy while dealing with infertility, and they welcomed their first child on the same day Shunte Harrison graduated from college.
“It was two blessings in one,” Shunte Harrison told Southern New Hampshire University. She and her husband dedicated their academic achievements to their son.
“He’s a blessing and he brought blessings with him,” said Shunte Harrison. “I want him to be very proud and know that his parents did this for him.”
Shunte Harrison, a first-generation college graduate, hopes to utilize her criminal justice degree to help keep poor youngsters out of prison.
Korey Harrison, her spouse, began working for a degree in 2005 but put it on hold owing to personal issues. He was inspired to return to college after witnessing his wife’s efforts to obtain a degree.
“Just seeing how smooth it was for her inspired me to jump on in,” Korey Harrison said. “You’re like superwoman,” he said to his wife during the interview. “I can’t imagine doing this without you.”
