Maryland Woman Wins $50,000 Using Her License Plate Numbers

According to the Maryland lotto, a Maryland woman won $50,000 in the Pick 5 lotto game by using her license plate after a year of playing.

Markietta Robertson of Prince George’s County won $50,000 on a $1 straight ticket and $400 on a 50-cent box bet, according to the Maryland Lottery. She bought her winning Pick 5 lotto ticket at Marlton Liquors in Upper Marlboro. The lottery will pay the shop a $500 bonus for selling the ticket.

According to the Lottery, Robertson’s license plate numbers won her the Pick 5 game on January 12, precisely as she had frequently predicted to her husband, James, over months.

“I was home when I checked my tickets, and I just hollered when I saw I won,” Robertson told the Lottery. “I double-checked using the Lottery app and then I jumped into my husband’s arms.”

After winning $50,000 in the Pick 5 lottery, the couple headed to Marlton Liquors in Upper Marlboro to validate their win. The store personnel were aware with Robertson’s playing tendencies and inquired whether she had put a Pick 5 box bet in the same drawing.

“I told her she should have won on the box, too,” James told the lottery. “Would you believe she threw the ticket away?”

Markietta had put a 50-cent 60-way Pick 5 box wager, which entitles her to a $400 payout.

“I just wasn’t thinking,” Robertson explained to the lottery officials. “I went home and got that ticket out the trash.”

On January 24, Markietta claimed her $50,000 lottery prize at the Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. She informed the Lottery that she intends to utilize the money to pay expenses and save the remainder.
