Man Utd Speak To Garnacho Over Social Media Activity

Manchester United have spoken with Alejandro Garnacho after the winger liked social media posts condemning manager Erik ten Hag’s handling of the player.

The Argentina international, who was substituted at halftime in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Bournemouth, liked two remarks on X posted by United fan and YouTuber Mark Goldbridge.

One remark accused Ten Hag of “throwing (Garnacho) under the bus” due to statements the United manager made about the 19-year-old’s performance.

Garnacho, according to the other player, “had a poor first half but taking him off at half time and holding him up as the problem is a joke” .

Garnacho quickly “unliked” both tweets, which the club believes demonstrates repentance, and a United insider informed the PA news agency that the issue had been resolved internally.

The teenager has emerged as a vital player for United this season, scoring nine goals and assisting four times in 42 games.

The incident followed one in September, when Jadon Sancho claimed on X that he had been made a “scapegoat” after being left out of the Arsenal squad, with Ten Hag claiming he had not trained properly.

Sancho stated that he would “not allow people to say things that (are) completely untrue,” which was read as accusing Ten Hag of distorting the reasons for his absence from the side.

The 24-year-old was dropped from the first squad before being loaned to Borussia Dortmund in January.

Ten Hag’s status has come under increased scrutiny following United’s draw against Bournemouth, which left them seventh in the Premier League league, 13 points behind the top four.

United’s sole chance of winning silverware this season is in the FA Cup, where they face second-tier side Coventry in the semi-final on Sunday at Wembley Stadium.
