Liverpool Agree a £110milion British Record Transfer with Brighton for Moises Caicedo

Liverpool have successfully hijacked Chelsea’s pursuit of Moises Caicedo, agreeing to a British record £110 million fee with the Brighton midfielder overnight.

Brighton remained solid in their appraisal of Caicedo throughout the summer, rejecting three approaches from Chelsea until the midnight deadline on Thursday for a club auction.

Fortunately for Liverpool, they outbid the asking price of £105 million and offered £110 million.

Personal terms have still to be agreed upon, but this should just be a formality. Caicedo and his agent were in west London last night, awaiting the outcome of the bidding war.

Liverpool will likely pay more in wages to Caicedo than Chelsea had offered.

Caicedo will become Liverpool’s third major signing of the summer after Alexis Mac Allister, also from Brighton, and fellow midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.
