Kenya’s Edwin Kibet Koech Wins Access Bank Lagos City Marathon

Edwin Kibet Koech, a Kenyan, has won the eighth edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.

The 42km race was dubbed ‘Push the Limit’ in 2023.

The 39-year-old winner crossed the finish line in two hours, fourteen minutes, and six seconds (2:14:06), beating out Ethiopia’s Dekeba Tafa and Kenya’s Bernard Sang, who finished second and third, respectively.

 

Alemeneshi Hereha Guta of Ethiopia won the Women’s Category, followed by Urisa Kebene Chala of Ethiopia and Naomi Maiyo of Kenya.

Hundreds of Nigerians and foreigners took part in the marathon, which began early Saturday morning at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere and ended at Eko Atlantic City on Lagos Island.
