Kate Middleton moved from the red carpet at the BAFTAs to the kitchen!

The Princess of Wales visited the Oxford House Nursing Home in Slough on Tuesday, just two days after shining alongside Prince William at the 2023 BAFTA Awards. Princess Kate, 41, met with staff and residents to learn about how patient-centered care is at the heart of the nursing home’s mission.

To commemorate Shrove Tuesday, also known as Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras, or Pancake Day, the prince joined villagers in a pancake-making exercise. Kate chuckled as the pancake in her flying pan became stuck and she had to use a spatula to separate it and then flip it.

“I’m sorry,” the Princess of Wales told one of the people helping to make the pancakes, according to a video shared on Twitter by The Sun‘s Matt Wilkinson. “I haven’t done you justice.”

Despite the difficulties, the nursing home residents are likely in for a treat — Prince William recently lauded his wife as a “really talented” cook, and the couple has previously discussed cooking and baking with their children, Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4. The couple uploaded photographs of the youngsters preparing cakes during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee festivities in June.

She also met with workers and volunteers at the nursing home’s award-winning garden.

Kate learned how the nursing home, which opened its doors in 1980, is using cutting-edge technology to improve the lives of its residents, such as an interactive sensory table purchased in 2020 as a creative response to the COVID-19 pandemic and a new interactive wall used to support residents with dementia. The prince and a local played soccer on the interactive table, using a device to “kick” the ball toward the opposition goal.

Nora Muchmore, 109, was one of the residents Princess Kate met. As seen in a video uploaded by Richard Palmer of the Daily Express, Kate stroked Nora’s leg while they talked about their favorite foods.

While Oxford House Nursing Home cares for up to 34 residents, the company also runs Oxford House Community Care, which helps people in the community live safely and independently in their own homes.

The Prince and Princess of Wales then walked the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards on Sunday, with Kate upcycling one of her Alexander McQueen outfits and finishing her ensemble with black gloves and dramatic, low-cost earrings. The couple attended a special memorial to the late Queen Elizabeth II, hosted by Dame Helen Mirren, at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
