Here’s Why Tom Cruise Refused to Attend the Oscars

Tom Cruise is said to have skipped the Oscars on March 12 in order to “avoid an unpleasant run-in” with Nicole Kidman.

According to sources, the Top Gun: Maverick star did not attend the event because his ex-wife was present following their ugly divorce over 20 years ago.

Cruise’s film received six nominations, including the coveted Best Picture Oscar.

Cruise and Kidman divorced in 2001, allegedly because she refused to join him in the Church of Scientology.

A source told DailyMail.com: ‘Tom was not there because she was there, and he did not want a run-in.’

However, sources close to Cruise said that his absence was ‘not personal’ and was due to scheduling issues, but they did not expressly respond to the assertion that it was related to Kidman’s appearance.

Cruise, 60, and his ex-wife have not attended the same Oscars parties this year, nor have they been seen at the same event in years.

Kidman, 55, who walked the Oscars red carpet with her country singer husband Keith Urban, 55, before packing on heavy PDA throughout the program, was noticeably absent from her Scientologist ex’s Oscars luncheon last month.
