Harry Potter’s Dumbledore Actor, Michael Gambon, Dies at 82

Sir Michael Gambon, 82, died peacefully in hospital after contracting pneumonia, his family announced today.

 

He was most recognized for his performances as Professor Albus Dumbledore in six of the eight Harry Potter films. Sir Michael also made an appearance in Fantastic Mr Fox.

 

This was revealed in a statement published by publicist Clair Dobbs on behalf of his wife Lady Gambon and son Fergus Gambon, according to the Daily Mail.

 

The statement read, “We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon.

 

“Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia. Michael was 82.

 

“We ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and thank you for your messages of support and love.’
