Zion Barrino, the 23-year-old daughter of singer Fantasia Barrino, has made considerable progress in her sobriety journey, reaching 90 days of improvement.
Zion acknowledged her satisfaction with the progress made over the last three months, stating that she had taken a significant step toward regaining her best self.
“Happy 90 days to me,” Zion wrote, emphasizing her commitment to making a positive change in her life.
Zion’s announcement follows suspicions concerning her health, with some sources claiming she was admitted to the ICU in critical condition. She did, however, use her Instagram stories to downplay the erroneous rumors earlier this year.
“I’m not in the ICU,” she clarified, adding in a follow-up story, “And wishing death on me is really f***ed up.”
Zion first opened up about her sobriety journey in August when she marked 60 days of being sober. At the time, she reflected on the challenges she faced and the support she had received from her loved ones.
“Today, I celebrate one of the hardest challenges in my life,” Zion shared on August 11. “I was sick for 3 weeks, but I pressed through, with the grace of God. I met some amazing people on this new journey and gained a community, love, and unbearable support from my family. Happy 60 days today to me . If you are struggling, I’m here to help and talk about my journey.”
Zion has not publicly stated her status or what she is recovering from, but her honesty and transparency serve as an encouragement to those who are facing similar unknown problems.
The 23-year-old’s life has been in the spotlight since she was a child, and after growing up with her renowned mother, Fantasia, who rose to fame after winning “American Idol,” she has decided to take things one step at a time, thinking that her efforts will be critical in the years ahead.
Fantasia had Zion when she was only 17 years old, after moving in with an abusive boyfriend and dropping out of school at 14.
She has, however, stayed firm over the years, making her daughter a vital part of her rise to popularity, and this moment represents a huge transition for both mother and daughter.
Fantasia, who received her GED in 2009, entered in college last year and is on her own path of growth and knowledge.
Barrino won season three of American Idol at the age of 19, despite being a single mother having to support herself and her child. Her success has significantly impacted her family’s lives.
Zion continues to strive to return to her greatest level, and now that she has achieved this milestone, she will set her sights higher, knowing that she has the potential to recover.
