Former Clippers great Baron Davis has praised Bronny James’ decision to enter the NBA draft. He believes LeBron James’ son is better suited for professional basketball than college.
Davis spoke with TMZ Sports at LAX, shortly after Bronny revealed his decision to pursue NBA prospects while keeping the option of returning to school open.
Despite a modest freshman season at USC, Bronny could yet get picked up by a professional franchise, as the pro game may better fit him.
“It’s more free-flowing,” Davis said of NBA action. “You’re not coached every moment. You’re not playing zone all the time. From what I’ve seen from Bronny, he’s an athletic, smart point guard. He can shoot the ball. So, if I was him, I’d try my hand too.”
He mentioned that if the young James’ NBA venture doesn’t pan out, he can always return to college basketball and potentially aim for the NBA in 2025.
Davis expressed strong support for Bronny, hoping for the Lakers to draft the former McDonald’s All-American when he eventually joins the league.
“I want to see Bronny and LeBron play on the same team,” he said. “That’ll be hard. Like Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr.”
“That s*** would be hella hard!”
