Embattled US Rapper, Diddy, Arrested in New York

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the troubled American rapper, was detained in New York City on vague federal charges.

On Monday, authorities from Homeland Security Investigations detained the 54-year-old hip-hop mogul at his hotel, the Park Hyatt New York on 57th Street.

The rapper’s arrest was confirmed by Damian Williams, the US attorney for the Southern District of New York, in a statement shared with X.

While the charges against Combs are unclear, Williams said “we expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time”.

Diddy has been in the public eye since November 2023, when multiple women, including the rapper’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, sued him, claiming s*xual ass*ult.

Diddy’s former producer, Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, has also filed a lawsuit, claiming that the rapper s*xually harassed, drugged, and threatened him for more than a year.

In March, the US Department of Homeland Security seized two houses associated with Diddy.

In May, a video emerged of Combs attacking Cassie in 2016.

Diddy, who previously dismissed Cassie’s charges, apologized. He stated that he was “truly sorry” and that his acts were “inexcusable”.

A Michigan inmate was just awarded $100 million for a s*xual ass*ult claim against Diddy by default judgment.
