Tourism Minister David Collado accepted an award recognizing the Dominican Republic as the best Caribbean island for tourists here on Wednesday.
Global Traveler, a travel magazine based in the United States, announced the coveted award at the Leisure Lifestyle Awards.
Minister Collado expressed his appreciation for the honor, which the Dominican Republic has received for the past three years.
“This new award belongs to all the people who every day welcome tourists with their smile and unique kindness, my people of the Dominican Republic,” Collado emphasized.
This prize from Leisure Lifestyle Awards adds to the country’s long list of accolades for its incredible tourism success story over the last three years.
Among these accolades, the World Tourism Organization (WTO) named the Dominican Republic the first in the world to fully recover from the pandemic.
