Jude Bellingham has been suspended for Real Madrid’s next two La Liga games after being sent off against Valencia last weekend, the Spanish football authority announced Wednesday.
Madrid challenged his red card, but the federation’s disciplinary committee rejected their claim that referee Jesus Gil Manzano committed a “error” in dismissing Bellingham.
The England international, who leads La Liga with 16 goals, scored moments after the referee blew for full-time in Madrid’s 2-2 draw against Valencia.
Bellingham, 20, was sent off after running over to the referee and urging the goal should stand, with Gil Manzano claiming he displayed a “aggressive attitude” and was “shouting”.
The midfielder will miss the forthcoming La Liga games against Celta Vigo and Osasuna.
Real Madrid leads the top flight by seven points over Girona and eight points ahead of third-place rivals Barcelona.
