Asia’s Richest Tycoon Brings World’s Billionaires on a Zoo Tour

Rich and famous guests who jetted in for a three-day gala celebration thrown by billionaire businessman Mukesh Ambani include pop icon Rihanna, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, and Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka.

This weekend’s gathering is a lavish pre-wedding celebration for younger son Anant and his girlfriend Radhika Merchant, the daughter of affluent pharmaceutical moguls.

The three-day event, which featured “Umbrella” singer Rihanna performing for the first time since last year’s Super Bowl, will continue Saturday with a visit to a “animal rescue center” that houses exotic creatures.

The venue, which hosts the weekend party, is Anant’s pet project erected in his family’s hometown of Jamnagar in western Gujarat state.

According to Indian media reports, the family will organize a “Walk on the Wildside” on Saturday, which will take place outside at the Ambani animal rescue center.

“Jungle fever” is the proposed dress code, and guests should wear comfy shoes and attire, according to reports.

According to rumors, visitors would swap their safari-themed clothes for more formal attire for an evening celebration showcasing Indian culture.

Mukesh Ambani, 66, is the chairman of Reliance Industries, India’s largest corporation by market capitalization, and the world’s tenth-richest person, with more than $116 billion, according to Forbes’ billionaires list.

He inherited his father’s booming industrial firm, which included oil, gas, and petrochemicals, and expanded it into a commercial juggernaut with profitable interests in retail, telecommunications, and an Indian Premier League cricket franchise.

Reliance’s relationships with prestigious fashion brands such as Burberry, Armani, and Jimmy Choo have aided the conglomerate in meeting India’s middle class’s growing demand for luxury items.

Ambani’s family residence, a 27-story building called Antilia that reputedly cost more than $1 billion to build and has a permanent staff of 600 servants, is one of Mumbai’s most visible landmarks.

After its completion in 2010, author Arundhati Roy and others criticized it for highlighting the vast disparity between India’s commercial elite and its destitute millions.

Ambani conducted the most extravagant wedding in India to date for his daughter in 2018, reportedly costing $100 million and included US pop megastar Beyonce.

Younger son Anant, 28, who also serves as a director on the boards of numerous Reliance-owned companies, is set to marry Merchant, 29, later this year.

This time, Disney CEO Bob Iger is on the guest list, after a merger agreement reached Wednesday between Reliance Industries and Walt Disney for their Indian media assets.

The combination will result in a $8.5 billion entertainment behemoth in the world’s most populated country and fifth-largest economy.

Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and M.S. Dhoni, and business magnate Gautam Adani are among those invited to a who’s-who of India’s superrich.
