Would you like to learn for free anywhere you want? Although there are extremely few, worldwide scholarships exist that allow you to study in any country or almost anywhere. Scholarships provided by global and regional organizations enable you to study in any country or a variety of countries. Distance learning scholarships allow you to pursue foreign studies in your home country or wherever you are.
1. Rotary Foundation Global Scholarship Grants
The Rotary Foundation provides scholarship financing through its Rotary Foundation Global Grant scholarships. The fellowship covers graduate-level coursework or research for one to four academic years. A global grant scholarship requires a minimum budget of $30,000, which can cover the following fees: passport/visa, vaccinations, travel expenses, school supplies, tuition, accommodation and board, etc. In general, study grants can be awarded in any country with a host Rotary club or district.
2. Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship Program
The Aga Khan Foundation awards a limited number of postgraduate scholarships each year to outstanding students from designated disadvantaged countries who have no other means of funding their studies. Scholarships are provided on a 50% grant or 50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a year. The Foundation solely assists students with tuition and living expenses. Generally, the scholar is free to choose any respected university, with the exception of those in the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Norway, and Ireland.
3. Education for Sustainable Energy Development (ESED) Scholarships
The ESED award is designed to help outstanding students pursuing further studies in sustainable energy development while also encouraging substantial contributions to the collective body of knowledge on the subject. Master’s students can receive scholarships worth $21,000 per year for up to two years.
4. Joint Japan World Bank Scholarships
The Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) supports students from developing countries in pursuing graduate courses leading to a master’s degree at preferred and partner universities around the world. The scholarship covers tuition, a monthly living stipend, round-trip airfare, health insurance, and a travel allowance.
5. ADB Japan Scholarship Program
The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) aims to provide an opportunity for well-qualified citizens of ADB’s developing member countries to undertake postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions in the Asian and Pacific Region. The ADB-JSP provides full tuition fees, a monthly subsistence and housing allowance, an allowance for books and instructional materials, medical insurance, and travel expenses.
6. Wells Mountain Foundation Scholarships for Developing Countries
The Wells Mountain Foundation, a public nonprofit foundation located in Bristol, Vermont, USA, provides Empowerment through Education scholarships to people in developing countries or in situations of extreme poverty. You can attend the university of your choosing in your home nation or another developing country. The average scholarship award is $1400, which can be applied toward tuition and fees, books and materials, and other approved expenses.
7. Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, in collaboration with UK universities, provides distance learning scholarships to people from poorer Commonwealth countries. The scholarships pay Masters-level tuition fees for students studying abroad.
8. Edinburgh Global Distance Learning Scholarships
The University of Edinburgh will award 12 scholarships to inhabitants of chosen developing countries to pursue one of the 30+ distance learning Master’s programs offered by the University. Each scholarship will cover the whole tuition for three years.
