According to Skytrax’s World Airline Awards, seven African airlines are in the top 100 in the world.
None of Nigeria’s airlines made the top seven this time, but we are hopeful that with the proper processes in place, we will make the list. Ethiopian Airlines grabbed the lead, followed by other African airlines such as Kenya Airways and South African Airways.
Qatar Airways was also named the greatest airline in the world for the year, closely followed by Singapore Airlines and Emirates, which finished second and third respectively.
Take a closer look at the African airlines that shined out in the 2024 rankings.
1. Ethiopian Airlines
Ethiopian Airlines is now ranked 36th internationally, a little drop from 35th in 2023. It remains a strong contender on the list, demonstrating its continued dedication to quality and service.
2. Royal Air Maroc
Royal Air Maroc, Morocco’s main carrier, was placed 55th in 2024, a little drop from 53rd the year before. Despite the slight dip, it remains a major role in African aviation.
3. South African Airways
South Africa’s primary airline climbed to 69th in 2024, up from 72nd in 2023. This progress points to a positive trend in the airline’s performance and customer happiness.
4. Kenya Airways
Kenya Airways, also known as “the Pride of Africa,” was placed 77th in 2024. This is a little drop from its 73rd place in 2023, but it still emphasizes the importance of Africa’s connection to the rest of the world.
5. RwandaAir
Rwanda’s national carrier rose to 81st place in 2024, up from 90th in 2023. This rise in the rankings reflects its commitment to improve its services and broadening its reach.
6. Air Mauritius
Mauritius’s primary airline ranked 85th in 2024, down from 78th in 2023. Despite the reduction, Air Mauritius continues to play an important role in connecting the island to the worldwide air travel network.
7. EgyptAir
Egypt’s national airline, one of Africa’s oldest, ranked 88th in 2024, up from 110th in 2023. This increase demonstrates continual improvements and a dedication to providing better travel experiences for its passengers.
