6 Black-American Celebrities You Did Not Know Were Twins

Twins are most often characterized by luck and goodwill. The birth of twins, either identical or fraternal, is often met with celebration irrespective of geographical location.

Due to the value placed on twins, days have been set aside in their honour in some jurisdictions while festivals, the world over, have been held in celebration of the uniqueness of twins and other multiple births.

The following celebrity twins, over the years, have largely shared the same passion and similar ventures with only a few exploring totally different ventures.

In this article, we cast the spotlight on some black American celebrities you did not know were twins:

Vin Diesel and Paul Vincent

Who would have thought ‘Fast and Furious’ star Vin Diesel was a twin? The star, whose real name is Mark Sinclair Vincent, has a non-identical twin who is also in the entertainment industry as a photographer and motion graphic artist.

Unlike his brother, Paul Vincent stayed out of the spotlight until 2013 when Diesel posted a picture online of his twin brother with the late Paul Walker, his former ‘Fast and Furious’ co-star, captioning it: “The two Pauls.”

 

Laverne Cox and M Lamar

Known for her role in the TV series, Orange Is the New Black, Laverne Cox made history in 2014 when she became the first transgender person to be nominated for an Emmy acting award.

Her brother M Lamar came into the spotlight for taking up her role as Marcus in Orange Is the New Black, which was a flashback to a transgender role [Sophia Burset] which was acted by his twin sister, Laverne Cox.

 

Tia and Tamara Mowry

The beautiful Mowry twins burst onto the scene with the popular American sitcom, “Sister, Sister,” and since the show ended in 1999, the sisters have continued to blaze the trail in the movie industry.

Tia Mowry has since starred on BET’s “The Game” and hosts her own cooking show while her sister, Tamara Mowry, has starred in the drama, “Strong Medicine”, and currently co-hosts daytime talk show “The Real.”

 

Tasha Smith and Sidra Smith

The Smith sisters are actively involved in the movie industry in the U.S. Actress Tasha is well-known for the role of Cookie’s (Tajari P. Henson’s) sister Carol on FOX’s hit series “Empire.” Her sister, however, works full time as a director while she occasionally comes on-screen.

They both reside in New York City.

 

Tiki Barber and Ronde Barber

Both Tiki and Ronde Barbers have had exciting careers in the NFL. Ronde, a cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 16 years, became a Super Bowl Champion in 2003. On the other hand, Tiki played for 10 years with the New York Giants.

Both married Asian American women, however, Tiki’s marriage didn’t last.

 

The Haqq sisters

The Haqq sisters are celebrities by virtue of association with reality stars, The Kardashians. The twins, Malika and Khadijah, in the past years, have worked for, and with, the celebrity maven, including the reality show Dash Dolls which ran for a season on E! in 2015.

They have also appeared in small acting roles since their teens. Khadijah is married to NFL player Bobby McCray.
