Mary Winston is widely recognized as the second Black woman to lead a Fortune 500 corporation. She was named temporary CEO of Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., an American chain of domestic merchandise retail stores with locations in Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico. She was on the Board of Directors of Bed, Bath & Beyond before being named temporary CEO January 2019.
She is also named one of Treasury & Risk Management magazine’s top 100 most influential people. Winston has served on large boards of public companies and audit committees for many years as a seasoned executive with extensive expertise in governance across a wide range of industries. He has a background in finance and accounting, as well as M&A experience, corporate strategy, corporate governance/compliance, cost restructuring programs, and investment. She began her career as a CPA and auditor at Arthur Andersen & Co.
She previously worked as Family Dollar Stores Inc.’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, as well as at Giant Eagle Inc., Scholastic Corporation, Visteon Corporation, and Pfizer Inc., Pharm.
