On Friday night, two teenagers who went to prom together tragically perished in a vehicle accident the next day. The tragic collision reportedly happened in Tuscaloosa in the early hours of Saturday morning, according to AL.com.
Samuel Brown, 18, and Madison Sims, 17, who were the casualties, were inside a Tesla when it collided with a semi-truck and were pinned beneath its trailer. Two additional teenagers in the car also received injuries. Sims was the front passenger and Brown was operating the vehicle.
The deceased teens were both student-athletes at their respective schools. Brown attended R.C. Hatch High School where he played football. “To say we will miss him would be an understatement,” Hatch High School shared in a Facebook post.
Sims, on the other hand, was a track athlete at Bryant High School. “We extend our most sincere condolences to the Brown and Sims family,” the Perry County school district shared. “We ask that you please keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate the days ahead together.”
Meanwhile, police said one of the teens who survived the crash suffered serious injuries, while the other sustained minor injuries and were both transported to the hospital for treatment shortly after the accident.
