Why I Declined A $300K Offer For My Iconic Pink Mink Coat – Cam’ron

Cam’ron’s pink mink coat caused quite a stir in the fashion and Hip-Hop worlds.

Back in 2002, the Dipset rapper wore fur to Fashion Week. The coat was paired with a flip phone, which was brilliantly the same color as his suit. The look is still popular to this day, and Drake recently wore it.

“The fur comes out once in a while if it makes sense. But you know, for the Drake show, being at the Apollo, I thought it’d be cool to bring out,” Cam’ron told Boardroom.

The Canadian rapper isn’t the only one who wishes to go back in time. During an interview with Boardroom, Cam’ron revealed that he received a $300,000 offer from a potential buyer for the fur coat. He turned it down, however, because he didn’t believe the interested buyer understood the coat’s historical significance.

Cam’ron is clearly not swayed solely by dollar signs, but he did reveal that if the sale makes sense, it will not be ruled out.

“The people who offered it to me, I didn’t feel they deserved it,” Cam’ron told Boardroom. “It was more of a stat to me saying y’all bought Cam’s jacket. It wasn’t really like they appreciated where that jacket came from. And if it makes sense to sell it to somebody who would’ve appreciated it or put it where it’s gonna be seen and be historic that people know as my jacket, cool.”

He continued: “You know, you got rich suburban kids who’d be like, ‘Hey Cam, my girlfriend, really loves your pink jacket.’ ‘I don’t really know too much about it, but I’ll buy it for her.’ How much do you want for it?’ Like that type sh-t. You know what I’m saying? These are booster babies. Their parents come from generational money to where they probably don’t know too much about Hip-Hop at all anyway, but they dealing with people who do.”
