A local blood bank is encouraging individuals wishing to give back this Thanksgiving to participate in an upcoming blood drive in order to continue addressing the existing shortage.
The two-day event will take place within the Grand Ballroom at the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa on Saturday, November 25, and Sunday, November 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Organizers say they are encouraging contributors to attend the event because, with the ongoing shortage, every donation matters.
“In addition to the shortage, blood donation numbers around Thanksgiving are always among the lowest of the year as the holiday and travel plans are in the mix. However, patients who need blood can’t go without just because of the holiday. We’re encouraging all eligible donors to consider saving a life with a donation this Thanksgiving,” said Mike Doria, communications manager at Vitalant.
Donors will receive one 50% off certificate to Rampart Casino’s Market Place Buffet for lunch, brunch, or dinner, as well as an entry into a drawing for one of five $5,000 Amazon gift cards.
Furthermore, anybody who donates between November 23 and November 26 will receive a $20 Amazon gift card or a gift card of their choosing if they are opted into Vitalant’s donor rewards shop.
