UK’s Cancer-Hit King Charles ‘Doing Extremely Well’ – Camilla

Queen Camilla, wife of Britain’s King Charles III, said Thursday that her husband, who has been diagnosed with cancer, is “doing extremely well” given the circumstances.

Less than 18 months after replacing his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, to the throne after her death, the 75-year-old monarch began treatment on Monday for an unidentified form of cancer.

While he will continue to execute administrative duties, the monarch will be gone from public life indefinitely.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced on Tuesday that the disease had been “caught early”.

Downing Street confirmed on Wednesday that the king’s weekly audience with the prime minister was conducted via phone, a rare occurrence for this historic and entirely private meeting between the sovereign and his head of government.

According to British media reports, the discussions should begin in person within two weeks.
