Mykel and Markel Rainey, identical twin brothers from Cuthbert, Georgia, graduate from high school as the salutatorian and valedictorian of their respective classes.
The Rainey brothers have continuously been motivated by their desire to achieve academic excellence. They claimed they entered their senior year determined to excel above expectations.
“Last year, we participated in graduation as honor students. And that’s when it really came to fruition that we could be this. So we started thinking of the possibilities like, what if?” Mykel told WALB.
Mykel is the 2023 graduating class’s valedictorian, and Markel is the salutatorian, at Randolph-Clay High School, where the two are currently seniors. After their first semester, they were both able to continue to maintain an A/B average on the honor list and a GPA of 3.5 or better.
Now excited to continue their education this year at Savannah State University, Mykel and Markel can’t wait. Their parents are pleased with their two boys’ accomplishments.
“You know, boys tend to stray away and be hard and difficult, but I didn’t get that from them. They were, you know, if I say do, they did if they had issues or doubts and I pushed them. They did so. Surprised but not surprised,” said their mother Tamika Rainey.
