Tracy Morgan, a comedian and actor, said that he awoke from a coma due of his daughter Maven Sonae, whom he had with his ex-wife Megan Wollover.
He said on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”, “She’s the reason why I live, man,” he said on the show. “I came out of that coma for her. She was only 10 months old, man. So I had to come out of that coma to be with my daughter. So, she’s great.”
Morgan was engaged in an accident in 2014 that left him in a coma for two weeks and took the life of James McNair, a fellow comic and friend, according to BOTWC.
He said in an interview on Today, “People don’t just come out of comas. I had to fight. I knew I had to be here for her. I wanted to see my daughter. I’ve always wanted a daughter and have a female version of me. And I’m looking at it every day as she grows under my gaze. And I love her.”
He added, “She’s very close to me. We’re very close. She’s my baby.”
Morgan appears to spend the most time with his daughter, who has shown a strong bond with him on previous occasions, out of his four children.
The star and Maven, 8, strolled the red carpet together in New York City on Saturday night in 2021 for the ESPY Awards, which Morgan was slated to host.
According to BCKonline, Morgan invited his daughter to co-host his show, “Sharks!” as part of Discovery’s “Shark Week” in 2022.
According to the site, Maven received a round of applause for her stand-up routine at Radio City Music Hall. An insider said, “Tracy was with his 8-year-old daughter, Maven, who asked to come up at the end to tell a few jokes to the crowd. Maven picked up the mic and — just like her dad — ripped off some jokes and told a funny story! The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
Maven revealed on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that she wishes to become a biologist and study the ocean, which is home to her favorite animal, a shark.
