Michael Bloomberg ranks second, with $96.3 billion. Bloomberg founded Bloomberg LP in 1981 and served as mayor of New York City from 2002 to 2013. He is a well-known philanthropist who has pledged to donate his ownership in Bloomberg LP to Bloomberg Philanthropies upon his death.
Ken Griffin is in third place, with over one-third of Bloomberg’s net worth. He founded and managed Citadel, a Miami-based hedge fund with $60 billion in assets. Stephen Schwarzman, the Chairman and CEO of Blackstone Group, ranks fourth with $36.8 billion.
The sole non-American is Robert Budi Hartono, one of Indonesia’s wealthiest persons. His income is derived from Djarum, one of the world’s largest makers of clove cigarettes, and Bank Central Asia, one of the country’s largest banks.
The only female on the list is Abigail Johnson. She is the President and CEO of Fidelity Investments. Johnson took over as CEO from her father in 2014.
