SZA Beats Taylor Swift to Win Best International Artist at Brit Awards 2024

Solána Imani Rowe, commonly known as SZA on stage, won the “Best International Artist” category at the Brit Awards, over tough opposition. She beat out well-known performers including Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Olivia Rodrigo, Kylie Minogue, and Afrobeats icons Burna Boy and Asake.

After she won the award, SZA, who couldn’t be there in person, said, “Thank you Brits so much for this award. Sorry I can’t be there. I’m so grateful for this honor. Thank you for bumping my music.”

“I hear you’re at the O2, which is my favorite. I will always give y’all the best of me and I should be back really soon. Thank you!”, the singer said in a pre-recorded acceptance speech, per HipHopDX.

According to the Daily Mail, the 34-year-old has been confirmed as the newest headlining artist at BST Hyde Park, scheduled for June.

SZA’s critically acclaimed album “SOS” received seven more gold and platinum certifications for singles from the 2022 album.

“Open Arms” with Travis Scott, “Seek & Destroy,” and “Ghost In The Machine” starring Phoebe Bridgers have all earned platinum status for the first time, while “I Hate U” and “Snooze” have already gone three and four times platinum, respectively. Most notably, “Good Days” went six times platinum.

SZA won three of the nine Grammy Awards she was nominated for in 2024: Best R&B Song for “Snooze,” Best Progressive R&B Album for “SOS,” and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Ghost In the Machine” with Phoebe Bridgers.
