Spanish Federation Accuses Hermoso Of ‘Lies’ About Football Chief’s Kiss

The Spanish Football Federation on Saturday accused Women’s World Cup player Jenni Hermoso’s of “lies” in her comments about her kiss with federation President Luis Rubiales.

It said the federation and Rubiales would “demonstrate each of the lies that have been spread, whether in the name of the player, if that is the case, or by the player herself” after Hermoso said she did not consent to being kissed on the lips following Spain’s World Cup triumph.

On Friday, HowAfrica reported that after a week of severe criticism for his uninvited kiss on the lips of player Jenni Hermoso during Spain’s Women’s World Cup victory, Spanish football president Luis Rubiales refused to retire on Friday.

Rubiales, 46, was expected to retire as head of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) after government ministries and sports figures demanded his resignation and FIFA launched disciplinary proceedings against him.

But he was defiant in a speech at an emergency meeting of the football federation.
