Seabreeze’s Paula Telles, Alyssa Capel Win Lions Club scholarships

The Ormond Beach Lions Club granted scholarships to Seabreeze High School seniors Paula Telles and Alyssa Capel, who were honored at a banquet May 11 at the Grind Gastropub in Ormond Beach.

Telles and Capel were both awarded a $1,000 Youth Exchange Scholarship. Telles was also awarded a $1,000 Andy Romano Scholarship.

 

According to a news release, the Youth Exchange Scholarship is open to all high school students in the Lions Club District 35 service area, which includes 12 counties. Financial necessity, personal or family adversity, extracurricular engagement, leadership, awards, volunteer services, employment, and future professional aims and goals are used to pick honorees.

Telles and Alyssa Capel were among nine Youth Exchange Scholarship recipients chosen from a pool of more than 100 applicants.

 

The Andy Romano Scholarship is given to a Seabreeze student based on academic performance, community service, leadership, professional goals, and financial need.
