Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have flown a plane full of relief supplies to earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey.
The captain of Portugal paid for tents, food packages, pillows, blankets, beds, baby food, milk, and medical supplies to support those affected by the region’s disasters. Both Turkey and Syria have received the items. According to Marca, this donation is worth $350,000.
Recently, Turkish footballer Merih Demiral said that Ronaldo has given him permission to auction one of his signed jerseys from his collection, with the proceeds going to earthquake victims.
“I just spoke with Cristiano. He said that he was very sad about what happened in Turkey. We are auctioning Ronaldo’s signed jersey in my collection. All proceeds from the auction will be used in the earthquake zone,” Demiral wrote on Twitter.
On February 6, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck southern Turkey near the Syrian border. This was followed almost nine hours later by a magnitude 7.5 earthquake situated approximately 59 miles (95 kilometers) to the southwest.
It’s not the first time Ronaldo has given so generously.
AL-Nassr FC’s forward once paid $83,000 for a child’s brain surgery and gave $165,000 to assist fund a cancer center in Portugal.
