Oprah Winfrey Surprises Girl Who Reenacted ‘The Color Purple’ Scene

Rosie McKee, 8, recently wowed the internet with her reenactment of a famous dining table scene from the 1985 film “The Color Purple,” which caught the attention of media mogul Oprah Winfrey.

According to CNN, Winfrey, who was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal as Sofia in the film, said, “Brava! Bravo!” When Rosie’s video was first posted a few months ago, she received a “Brava Brava!”

The famous former talk-show host, who is among the producers of a new Warner Bros. movie based on the Broadway musical “The Color Purple,” then shared the video and said, “When a friend sent me this video, I said, ‘Rosie and her brother did a really good job reenacting @thecolorpurple! Then they told me it was just Rosie doing all the roles – so that gets a standing O from me! I’ve got to call her mother cause now I have to meet @go_rosie_grow.”

To maintain her word, Winfrey called Rosie to discuss the scene she performed in an Instagram video.

She told the 8-year-old, “It’s the hardest scene in the movie for all the actors to do. When I did it years ago, it took us three days to do that scene. And you nailed it!”

Winfrey then invited Rosie and her mother, Kenya White, to the film’s premiere in Los Angeles and to walk the purple carpet with her. She also stated that she would take Rosie and her mother shopping for purple costumes so that they could be “purpled up and purpled down” for the event.

In excitement, Rosie also shared the video of the invitation on her Instagram page with the caption, “Surprise SURPRISE!!!How cooool is THIS? Thank you @oprahThe Big 3 as we call ourselves are reaping what we have sowed!!! @thecolorpurple WOW just WOW!! @aablesyn @kenya.faye LOOK MAMA we made it!!! Wait I’m the MOMMA!!!!”
