Nintendo to Announce Switch Successor by March 2025

Nintendo, a Japanese video game corporation, plans to introduce the successor to its popular platform Switch in March 2025.

Shuntaro Furukawa, the company’s president, stated on X that an announcement on the new console will be made “within this fiscal year” – which ends on March 31, 2025.

He stated that it would be the first new Nintendo system since the Switch was revealed in March 2015, with a release date set for 2017.

Furukawa, on the other hand, stated that the new machine would not be mentioned during the company’s Nintendo Direct event in June.

He stated that the event next month will focus on the “Nintendo Switch software line-up for the latter half” of the year.

“We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year,” he said.

“It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015.

“We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024.

“But please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.”

Nintendo has disclosed financial data for the past year.

While profits increased, the corporation reported lower software and hardware sales.

Despite the fact that the Switch is eight years old, Nintendo claims it has 123 million yearly users.

The business also announced that it sold 15.7 million Switch systems between April 2023 and March 2024.

It announced ambitions to expand the use of Nintendo characters to other sectors. These include the upcoming Mario film, a Donkey Kong Country section of its Super Nintendo World attraction at Universal Studios Japan, and a new corporate museum outside Kyoto, Japan.
