| How Africa News

A Nigerian doctor, Emeka Okorocha has used statistics to explain how Nigerians contribute favourably to the United Kingdom  through the dependents system.

During an interview on CBNEWS UK, shortly after UK’s home secretary banned international students from bringing family members while on a Masters program, Okorocha revealed that he was able to become a doctor in the UK after his father who is a surgeon migrated and brought him and his siblings along.

Countering claim of Nigeria being a poor country, the Nigerian-born doctor who described Nigeria as a developing country, stated that over 27% of health officials who contribute to the welfare of citizens of the UK are not British.

He also stated that it is part of the culture of Nigerians to give their family members a better life, hence why they come with dependents.
