New York City’s Millionaire Population Skyrockets by 48% in a Decade

According to a new survey, the number of millionaires in New York City has increased by 48 percent over the last decade.

The Big Apple remains the wealthiest city in the United States and around the world. According to Henley & Partners and New World Wealth’s USA Wealth Report, there are around 350,000 millionaires and 60 billionaires.

New York also boasts the most centi-millionaires in the country (744).

The San Francisco Bay Area came in second, with more millionaires than New York. The Bay Area boasts about 305,000 millionaires, 675 centimillionaires, and 68 billionaires.

San Francisco’s ascent in the rankings was aided by its millionaire growth, which increased by 82 percent over the last decade.

Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston round out the top five cities in the United States.

Los Angeles has over 212,000 millionaires, 496 centimillionaires, and 43 billionaires. Chicago is ranked fourth, with over 120,000 millionaires, 290 centimillionaires, and 24 billionaires.

Austin, placed tenth, has seen the greatest increase in millionaires on the list, increasing by 110 percent over the last decade to 33,000, in addition to 92 centimillionaires and ten billionaires.

The survey looked at cities with over 25,000 resident millionaires and used data from December.
