In a recent high school basketball game, Mercy Miller—the son of American rapper and actor Master P—made history.Miller, a four-star recruit from Florida’s Notre Dame High School, scored 68 points in a 104-44 victory over Oakwood, setting a school record for the most points in a single game. This was reported by Sports Illustrated.
The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 17.1 points and 8.8 rebounds while shooting 28 of 38 from the floor to help Notre Dame win the CIF State Division I championship the previous season.
The rising sensation signed with Houston last month. Miller told TMZ Sports, “It was between Houston and Duke for me when I was growing up. When I went to Houston, I really fell in love with it. When they offered me, Coach Kelvin Sampson—he’s a great guy and the connection was there so I just felt might as well just wrap it up and get this over with.”
In the SBLive Southern Section Top 25, Notre Dame is now ranked seventh among boys basketball teams, per Sports Illustrated.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Miller ended with 68 points, surpassing the school record of 66 established by Bud Fabian in 1969.
