According to a press release from the Massachusetts State Lottery, Valdez stopped at an Andover petrol station for a cup of coffee to start her day and then decided to toss in a lottery ticket when checking out.
Valdez gambled $20 at the Mobil station to play the “$10,000,000 Premier Cash” quick ticket game offered by the Massachusetts State Lottery. Her wager paid off as she was able to win a million dollars.
As soon as Valdez learned she had won, she turned in her ticket and decided to take her prize as a lump sum payment of $650,000 (before taxes).
She stated in the announcement that she is “thankful and blessed” and that she plans to utilize the prize money to help her family.
