A guy is scheduled to go on trial for allegedly torturing a seagull by placing his genital in its beak.
On Friday, February 17, David Lee was charged with violating the Animal Welfare Act of 2006 by causing needless suffering to a protected animal at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court in England.
On August 18, 2022, a weird offense is said to have occurred in Sunderland.
Lee, 39, “Unreservedly conducted an act [where] he snatched a wild bird, forced it down, and placed his penis in its mouth, therefore causing undue agony to that animal,” the prosecution said in a statement to the court.
Lee has pleaded not guilty, according to Chronicle Live. He received unrestricted bail till his upcoming trial.
The Wildlife and Countryside Act of 1981 and the Wildlife (Northern Ireland) Order of 1985 both provide protection for all gull species.
An active nest or its contents may not be damaged or destroyed, nor may any gull be intentionally or carelessly hurt or killed.
An offense against wildlife carries a fine of up to £5,000 or, in particularly severe situations, a jail sentence. Killing or wounding a seagull on purpose is a crime.
