Manchester United defender Harry Maguire will not be joining West Ham United this summer.
According to insiders, Maguire was looking for a £15 million settlement from United, which is £9 million more than he was first granted.
The Hammers had intended to sign the England international for £30 million, but are now rumoured to be considering other options following the 30-year-old’s demands with his present club.
“Harry respects West Ham — but there was never an agreement on personal terms”, sources close to Maguire said.
“Harry remains settled at United, loves the club and believes he will get plenty of opportunities to play”.
David Moyes’ team had grown impatient of waiting for the defender to complete his exit from Old Trafford earlier today.
During Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure, Maguire was a mainstay, and the coaches’ faith in him earned him the captain’s armband.
However, he has failed to satisfy the club’s current manager, Erik Ten Hag, and has so lost the captaincy to Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandez.
