Lupita Nyong’o has welcomed a new furry addition to her family. The 40-year-old actress announced her newest family member, a lovely kitty named Yoyo, in an Instagram photo over the weekend.
Nyong’o couldn’t stop smiling as she introduced Yoyo to her adoring audience. In what appeared to be a new chapter in her love story, she stated that while she had always been afraid of cats, recent life changes had given her the confidence to overcome her fear of cats.
In reference to her breakup with lover Selema Masekela, Nyong’o stated that she has learned to embrace change and new beginnings, beginning with her new feline companion. She stated that a friend advised her to overcome her fear of cats by introducing her to the world of pet adoption, which included visits to several animal shelters. She began developing her relationship with Yoyo three days after adoption, according to her.
Nyong’o stated that because of her relationship with Yoyo, she is now officially a member of the devoted pet parent club. She stated that, while she may appear to be a savior for Yoyo, the cat has become her source of comfort and peace.
“I never understood people whose phones were full of photos and videos of their pets — now I am one of those people! It may look like I saved Yoyo, but really, Yoyo is saving me,” she indicated in her Instagram post.
Nyong’o discussed how the heartbreak brought on by a quick and false end to love affected her. She acknowledged the temptation to withdraw into the darkness and emerge only when her strength had returned. She did, however, say that one must sometimes find the strength to confront one’s pain, understanding that it is a testimonial to her ability to love.
Nyong’o’s resolve to confront her feelings and believe in the healing power of time exemplifies a message of resilience and hope in the face of hardship.
