On Wednesday, May 22, Jeff Bezos surpassed Elon Musk to become the world’s second richest person, when his net worth increased by more than $200 million.
According to Forbes, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos recaptured his title from Space X chief, barely a day after billionaire Tesla owner Musk took over as the world’s second richest person.
But both rivals are still after Bernard Arnault, LVMH’s CEO and the world’s richest person.
Bezos’ current net worth is $201.5 billion, thanks to a $511 million daily jolt caused in part by an increase in Amazon shares, which were up more than 0.5% as of midday on Wednesday.
Musk’s net worth of $198.4 billion has pushed him into third place, following a decrease in Tesla stock, which plummeted over 3% to around $181 per share on Wednesday morning.
It should be noted that the heads of Neuralink and X (previously Twitter) had either topped or ranked second on Forbes’ real-time billionaire list from August 2021 to March 6, when Bezos knocked him down to third.
The world’s richest person, LVMH magnate Bernard Arnault, has a net worth of around $205.9 billion.
