Lamar Odom, a former Los Angeles Lakers player, has purchased three drug addiction treatment centers in San Diego County, California, in the hopes of saving people’s lives. Odom Wellness Treatment Centers will be the name of the facilities.

“He wants to help everyone he can,” the representative for Odom told TMZ Sports. “He is thankful that he was given a second chance at his life and feels his destiny is to help others.”

Odom was in a similar situation in 2015 when he was placed on life support after a drug overdose. While in a coma, he had several strokes and heart attacks. After surviving, Odom made it his mission to help others turn their lives around as well.

Odom, along with Christian hip-hop artist Dontae Ralston and former Hall of Fame skateboarder Dennis Martinez, invested in the rehab facilities. He allegedly negotiated the deal with his managers, K&R and Gitoni.

The facilities in San Diego, El Cajon, and Lemon Grove each have a residential treatment home for women and two detox and residential homes for men. Furthermore, Odom intends to expand to two additional treatment facilities.

The global drug addiction treatment industry generates more than $16.5 billion in revenue per year. There are over 14,000 treatment facilities worldwide, and approximately 3.7 million people receive treatment each year.
