A 39-year-old man was arrested and charged in Florida after he allegedly pulled out an 18-inch machete at a bar after his request to sing another karaoke song was denied. The incident happened on Sunday at Kennedys Lamp Post Tavern in Cape Canaveral, according to ClickOrlando.
Travis Jordan, the suspect, has since been charged with ‘breach of peace-disorderly conduct.’ According to the probable cause affidavit, deputies who arrived on the scene noticed Jordan was unable to stand properly. Aside from smelling strongly of alcohol, the suspect’s eyes were described as bloodshot and glassy.
According to a person who spoke with deputies, the machete Jordan pulled out was hidden on his body, and the suspect pulled out the weapon after someone refused to let him have another go at karaoke. According to the affidavit, the person who denied Jordan’s request later persuaded him to safely give her the machete.
As “everyone started freaking out,” a member of staff also kept the weapon out of harm’s way and contacted law enforcement. Though Jordan did not deny having the weapon, he did tell deputies that he needed to “stay alert” to protect himself after being threatened a few days before, according to ClickOrlando.
However, the affidavit stated that Jordan wasn’t in any danger when he pulled out the machete.
