Country Singer Toby Keith Dies At 62

Toby Keith Covel, better known as Toby Keith, died at the age of 62 from stomach cancer.

The singer’s website and social media platforms reported his death on Monday night.

“Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time,” the statement reads.

The singer died 18 months after admitting he had stomach cancer. In June 2022, the ‘Shock’n Y’all’ singer revealed that he was living with cancer, and in September 2023, he described the “roller coaster” experience of therapy.

“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover, and relax,” Keith, 60, tweeted.

“I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait,” the singer tweeted, signing off with “T.”
