Chick-fil-A CEO Surprises Employee with $25K Scholarship

On Monday, a Bainbridge Chick-fil-A employee received a life-changing surprise: a $25,000 scholarship.

Teri McCord received one of Chick-fil-A’s 14 True Inspiration Scholarships across North America. She is a freshman at Kennesaw State University who has been working at the Chick-fil-A in Bainbridge for the past three years. She went to work today expecting an average day, but her team members, family, and friends surprised her with the announcement.

“The next thing I know, I’m being handed a $25,000 cheque. “That’s not what I expected today,” McCord stated. “And I’m just more than grateful seeing my mom, my grandparents, my mentors, my teachers, my friends – seeing everybody here, I’m just like ‘Ok, I’m making them proud.'”

Kolby Shepherd, the owner and operator of Chick-fil-A Bainbridge, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to award one of his staff this recognition.

“This is wonderful. She learns what it’s like to potentially graduate debt-free and have a life-changing experience. So, to me, it means everything. We have an outstanding cooperation with our support center, Chick-fil-A Inc., and the Cathey family. “It’s truly remarkable,” he stated.

McCord hopes to use the scholarship money to further her education at Kennesaw State University. She says she aims to influence future generations as an educator.
