Anthony Edwards, a prominent player for the Minnesota Timberwolves, responded to Paige Jordae’s accusations on Instagram that he impregnated her and offered her $100,000 to undergo an abortion.
Screenshots of text messages were shared on social media, where Edwards allegedly wrote, “Get an abortion lol” and “I will send you money to help you out.”
Edwards, who recently signed a lucrative contract extension, explained that he made the comments “in the heat of the moment” and stated that he is dealing with the situation privately.
“I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man,” Edwards posted on his X account on Monday.
“All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them.
“I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time.”
There are rumors that Edwards is in a relationship with his girlfriend, Jeanine Robel.
Screenshots shared on Instagram by Jordae included a pending wire transfer of $100,000 dated November 27, 2023, through JP Morgan Chase & Co. However, the image did not reveal the sender and receiver information.
Other correspondence showed Edwards sent Jordae a message saying “I don’t want a kid,” “Just take the pills” and “OK just make sure I get da video of the box wit the right pills.”
“You got da money wats the hol up” and “my attorney will handle it,” it continued.
The screenshots and related content were shared on Instagram Stories from Jordae’s account, “Dream Paige,” boasting 1.4 million followers. Her verified Instagram page under the name “Paige Jordae” has 416,000 followers, and both accounts are connected.
“I’ve never once run to the internet about NO ONE,” she wrote in a separate post on her Instagram Story. “I tried over and over to handle this privately and my efforts were ignored.
“I’ve been lied to and manipulated by someone who knows exactly what they’re doing and takes no accountability for anything.
“Y’all always want someone to blame and I guess it’s going to be me.”
The Minnesota Timberwolves have not made a public statement regarding the allegations involving Edwards.
Edwards is currently maintaining a strong performance on the court, averaging 24.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists for the team.
