Former Porto coach Andre Villas-Boas announced his candidacy for president of the club on Wednesday, with an April vote scheduled.
The 46-year-old, who won the Europa League, Portuguese league title, and Portuguese Cup with the club in 2011, will most likely face Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, who has been the manager since 1986.
“I’m a candidate for the presidency of FC Porto,” Villas-Boas said in a statement.
Villas-Boas first announced his candidacy in November, claiming he had been intimidated by some members of the fan base.
The former Chelsea, Spurs, and Zenit St Petersburg coach has pledged to modernize the club and create a women’s squad.
