AI Billionaires Saw a Staggering $390 Billion Wealth Surge in Just One Year

Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and Jensen Huang have all played key roles in the AI revolution, leveraging their knowledge and resources to develop technologies that have fundamentally altered how we work and live. From machine learning and self-driving vehicles to generative AI, these technologies have transformed our society while also generating hundreds of billions of dollars in profits for tech billionaires and the companies that support them.

AltIndex.com reports that the top eight AI billionaires have boosted their wealth by $390 billion in the past year.

Although the world’s top AI billionaires already had a sizable net worth, the AI renaissance, which began last year, allowed them to increase their wealth even further. Since the start of 2023, all of these tech titans have gained tens of billions of dollars to their fortunes, but none come close to Mark Zuckerberg.

While the owner of Facebook and Meta Platforms is the king of social media, he has also had a significant impact on artificial intelligence. His company optimizes personalized content, user engagement, and advertising with AI algorithms, and it has also made significant investments in virtual reality experiences in Metaverse. According to Forbes’ real-time billionaire list, Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth increased by $112.6 billion year on year, the most among top AI billionaires. Facebook shares increased by 125% over this time, bringing the CEO’s fortune to $177 billion.

Jeff Bezos has followed Zuckerberg’s lead, increasing his net worth by $80 billion over the last year. Although Amazon’s owner rose to prominence in ecommerce, Bezos is also well-known in the field of artificial intelligence. Amazon Web Services, a large portion of his empire, provides a wide range of AI tools and services to assist businesses in incorporating AI into their operations. However, Bezos broadened his AI impact by investing in Perplexity, an AI startup that intends to challenge Google’s supremacy in the search engine industry. Last year, Bezos’ net worth was $114 billion; now it is $194 billion.

According to statistics, Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, has the third-largest net worth rise among the top AI billionaires, adding about $56 billion to his fortune over the last year. His company has become a household name in the AI industry, with its visual processing units utilized in everything from enormous data operations to self-driving automobiles. Nvidia’s stock value has increased by more than $1.8 trillion since January 2023, bringing its CEO’s wealth to $77 billion.

Although Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Jensen Huang have witnessed the greatest increase in net worth, the other AI billionaires have also gained significant amounts to their wealth. Sergey Brin and Larry Page, co-founders of Google and significant investors in AI company DeepMind, have each added over $34 billion to their wealth in the last year, as has Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison. Bill Gates, another well-known figure in artificial intelligence, is now worth $128 billion, up $24 billion from a year ago.

Despite Tesla being the lone loser among the AI giants in 2024, Elon Musk’s net worth is $15 billion higher than last year. With a net worth of $195 billion, he is the world’s second richest person and the richest AI billionaire. According to statistics, the United States generates the majority of the money from AI enterprises, with Americans accounting for eight out of 10 of the world’s richest AI billionaires.
